Artist Sally Gierke worked with preschool, kindergarten and 1st grade students from St. Katherine's-St. Mark's School to create this large ceramic work. The large, rhythmic shapes are balance against the imprint of small toys, shells and animal footprints along the bottom. Comprised of nine inch square tiles, the work measures 15 feet in length (18 x 7 tiles). It is installed on an outside wall of the school.
Sally has created other clay murals in the Quad-Cities, including works at McKinley and Mark Twain Elementary Schools.
