General Information
Formed in 2003, the Hopper Jazz Sextet is in residence at Western Illinois University and honors Professor Emeritus Dale Hopper who began a thriving jazz program at Western Illinois University in 1978. In 2004, a scholarship fund for jazz studies was established in Hopper’s name that honors his many achievements in jazz education and his service to WIU.
Continuing a tradition of excellence, the group consists of some of Central Illinois finest jazz artist/educators, assembled from the finest institutions of higher learning in jazz studies. The Hopper Sextet performs concerts and has given clinics throughout Illinois and is frequently in demand at educational events and jazz festivals.
