The Twenty-Seventh Annual WIU Marching Band Classic will be held on Saturday,
September 27, 2008, starting in the late afternoon at Hanson Field on the campus of Western
Illinois University, Macomb, IL.
This annual event is a high school marching band field competition in a two-division
championship format. Overall champion trophies will be awarded in the small
school division (Classes A and AA) as well as in the large school division
(Classes AAA and AAAA). The top three bands in each class (A, 2A, 3A, &
4A) will be awarded trophies and the best drum major(s), percussion, winds,
and auxiliaries in each division will also receive trophies. In addition,
we will have an open class allowing bands to perform and be adjudicated for
comments only.
Come enjoy this exciting fall event of high school marching bands in competition.
The WIU Marching Leathernecks will also perform twice during the show - after
the small division competition and again after the large division competition.
Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for students/senior citizens, and free for
children 5 years and under. The competition will be moved to Western Hall
in the case of inclement weather.
