Spring Tour

General Information

Each spring, the Western Illinois University Symphonic Wind Ensemble tours the state of Illinois, presenting concerts for music students and for special community events. While on tour, the band performs as many as three concerts at three different venues in any given day. Typically, the tour lasts three to four days, and concludes with a concert at the Western Illinois University College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

In 2009, the tour will be to the Chicago suburbs en route to our performance on Armour Stage at Chicago's Orchestra Hall. The tour dates are April 2 – 4, 2009. Our concert at Orchestra Hall will be Saturday, April 4 at 12:00PM. This concert will feature a guest soloist from WIU's applied studio, and selections from the best in modern and historically significant wind ensemble literature. The concert is free to friends and family of the wind ensemble and we hope you will join us as we celebrate our second invitation to perform in this outstanding facility. If your high school band would like the WIU Wind Ensemble to perform at your school on April 2nd or 3rd (at no cost to you), please send Mike Fansler an email to discuss scheduling possibilities (Mj-fansler@wiu.edu).

More information concerning towns and performance locations are forthcoming as we confirm our itinerary.

For more information, please contact Mike Fansler, director of bands, at 309-298-1505 or mj-fansler@wiu.edu.
