Hamner Book Talk Faculty Spotlight Dr. Everett Hamner - Spring 2018

A Talk by Everett Hamner, Editing the Soul: Science and Fiction in the Genome Age, Feb 28, 4:30pm, Morgan 101-A. What does it mean to be a human being in the age of genetic engineering? How are we redrawing the lines between human and animal, natural and artificial, freedom and determinism? Everett Hamner will talk about how these questions are explored in contemporary literature, film, comics, and television series--through fictional futures that might shape the decisions we make about genetic engineering in our actual world. Brief responses will be offered by Shawn Meagher in Biological Sciences and Shazia Rahman in English. Sponsored by the Liberal Arts & Sciences Department.
