Jose Fernandez received his B.A. and M.A. in English from Northeastern Illinois University in 2005 and 2007. He completed his Ph.D. in English at Northern Illinois University in 2012. His research interests include 19th- and 20th-century American literature, American literary naturalism, and Multi-Ethnic American literature with an emphasis on African American and Latino literature.Professor Fernandez has published articles in journals such as the Journal of the Midwest Modern Language Association, Interdisciplinary Literary Studies, and The Journal of American Drama and Theatre.
