Barbara's work has previously appeared in the Sycamore Review, issues of Another Chicago Magazine, Buffalo Carp, Friends Journal, In Quire,  issues of Bird's Thumb, Prairie Gold: Anthology of the American Heartland, Requited Journal, Festival Writer, Red Wolf Journal, Catch & Release, The Lake,  bioStories Magazine, The Riveter Review, Hermeneutic Chaos Literary Journal, i70 Review, Mud Season Review, Pea River Journal, Sediments Literary-Arts Journal, Emerge Literary Journal, San Gabriel Valley Poetry Quarterly, The Rusty Toque, Lunch Ticket,  Black Sun Lit, Sugared Water, Kudzu House Quaterly and freeze frame fiction. It is forthcoming in Per Contra, Slipstream, New Madrid: Journal of Contemporary Literature, Circus Book, Fiction Southeast, The Sonder Review, Eastern Iowa Review, Empty Sink, and Spelk.

Her short stories "Blink" and "Remnants", and poem "Two Mornings" were recently nominated for the Pushcart Prize.

Her favorite creative endeavors are her awesome kids, Annaleigh and Jack.

Beyond writing, reading, and teaching, her interests include literacy activism, radical optimism, running, gardening, cooking, and walking her beloved dog, Banjo.
