Andrew, Graduate in English
I graduated from Western in 2010 with a Master’s in English; in addition to working at the Writing Center I teach at Black Hawk College and have my own freelance editing business.
At the Writing Center, I handle everything from resumes to science fiction to master’s theses, but I especially like working with writers in the early stages of the writing process (developing and focusing topics, outlining and drafting) and helping them master the fine art of documentation (MLA, Chicago, and, alas, APA).
In my spare time, such as it is, I work out, write poetry and fiction, and read novels about the end of the world (Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam trilogy is a good place to start if you’re interested)
Gina, Graduate in English
Gina is an English graduate here at Western. She received her undergraduate degree from St. Ambrose University. After a career in the legal profession, she decided to pursue a life-long dream of teaching at the college level.
In addition to school and working in the Writing Center, Gina is a wife and mother (of four). She enjoys guilty reading pleasures like Stephen King and John Grisham, spending time with her family, and watching crime television.

Tim, Graduate in Writing Studies
I’m a second year graduate student in writing studies. My focus within this field is centered on teaching writing. I received my bachelor’s degree from Greenville College in 2011. While there, my major was Literature and Language. After graduating from Greenville, I worked as a tutor at Black Hawk College for a year and a half. While there, I mostly assisted students with learning disabilities and second language learners. In my downtime, I enjoy running, fishing and playing basketball. I look forward to assisting with any aspect of the writing process that you want to learn more about.
