THE RICHARD SCHAFER FRESHMAN GEOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

($300 per SEMESTER for one year)

CRITERIA: Applicant must:

1. Be an entering Freshman who plans to major in Geology

2. Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 point scale OR a composite ACT of at least 24


THE RICHARD SCHAFER COMMUNITY COLLEGE TRANSFER STUDENT GEOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

($300 per year for up to TWO YEARS)

CRITERIA: Applicant must have:

1. Completed a minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit at the time of enrollment at Western Illinois University, with an overall grade point average of at least a 3.0 on a scale where 4.0 is an "A".

2. Completed four semester hours of geology/earth sciences at the time of enrollment at Western Illinois University, with a grade point average of at least a 3.0 on a scale where 4.0 is an "A".

3. A letter of recommendation from an Earth Science faculty member from the two-year institution.

4. Transcripts from all previous institutions attended sent to WIU department of Geology.

TERMS: The award of $300 is for the first year of enrollment at WIU. The award is then repeated for the second year of enrollment at WIU if the geology major has maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average. In addition, one NEW award will also be made each year to a qualified applicant.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: The applications for either scholarship must be received by April 15th.
