ALEX HEUER WINS PHI KAPPA PHI PAPER AWARD

Alex Heuer, a senior History Major from Swansea, won the 2008 Phi Kappa Phi Undergraduate Research Paper Fourth Place Award for his paper, "Chief Mokohoko and His Band's Trail of Peaceful Resistance: 1869-1886." Mr. Heuer's research was performed under the supervision of his mentor, Dr. Virginia Jelatis, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the WIU Department of History. At the Phi Kappa Phi Awards Ceremony and Banquet on April 13, 2008, Mr. Heuer, who holds a Charles Sadler Scholarship from the History Department, will receive, in recognition of his accomplishment, a monetary award of $150.
