WIU Awarded NEH Grant for Traveling Lincoln Exhibit
Jun 10, 2009
Dr. Timothy Roberts, an Assistant Professor in the WIU Department of History, has been named Project Director for a $2,500 programming grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The grant will support programming associated with a special traveling exhibit on "Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War" that will be at WIU's Malpass Library in the Fall of 2010. WIU is one of only 25 locations around the country, and the only one in Illinois, to which the exhibit will travel.
This exhibit, which was developed by the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia and the American Library Association, with financial support from the NEH, will be at WIU's Malpass Library from October 6 to November 19, 2010. Grant monies to support programming at WIU associated with the project are being provided by the NEH's "We the People" funding initiative, which is intended to encourage and strengthen the teaching, study, and understanding of American history and culture.
As the exhibit date approaches in 2010, Dr. Roberts will announce programs at WIU planned in conjunction with this special exhibit.
