Dr. Jen McNabb Named Greek Advisor of the Year by WIU
Apr 12, 2010
Dr. Jennifer McNabb, Associate Professor of History, was chosen by WIU as "2010 Greek Advisor of the Year" for her work as Faculty Advisor for WIU's chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau. At the Greek Week Awards Banquet in April, she was presented with a plaque commemmorating the honor.
In Fall 2009, Alpha Sigma Tau was without an advisor and Dr. McNabb agreed to serve as Faculty Advisor for the chapter when she was approached by an AST member enrolled in one of her classes. In addition to attending all weekly meetings of the chapter and of its Executive Board, she also participates in various Panhellenic and Greek meetings and activities.
In addition, Dr. McNabb took the initiative to establish and fund a "Dues Scholarship" to be given to an AST member "who has shown excellence in grades, involvement in the sorority and on campus, and an overall positive attitude." According to one of the sorority members who nominated her for the honor, Dr. McNabb "is a motivator and a role model. With everything she does for girls who were merely strangers five months ago, I can only hope to be as amazing a woman as she is someday. I can honestly say, and I know I am not only speaking for myself, but Jen has changed our chapter for the best."
Dr. McNabb is also Faculty Advisor for the Associated Students of History.
