Postwar American History course offered this Summer
Apr 15, 2010
Dr. Richard Filipink, Associate Professor of History, will offer History 419(G): America Since 1945, during the May Pre-session this Summer. The 3-credit course (STAR 52918) will meet Monday through Friday, from May 17 through June 4, from 9:00 to 11:55 a.m.
This course, open to both undergraduate and graduate students, will examine the United States during its era as a world superpower, starting with America's entry into World War Two, extending through the Cold War, and closing with the election of George W. Bush. We will focus on three primary topics: the Cold War, the Civil Rights movement, and American politics. We will also look at the counterculture of the 1960s, America's post-Cold War responsibilities in the 1990s, and the challenges facing the United States in the twenty-first century.
