Dr. Cole Delivers Keynote Address in Pennsylvania

Dr. Peter Cole, Associate Professor of History at WIU, delivered the Keynote Address at the 77th Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania Historical Association (PHA) in October 2008.

Dr. Cole's address, "Workers on the Waterfront, Unite! Philadelphia's Long-Forgotten Wobblies," was delivered at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, at the PHA's annual banquet. His remarks on this most inclusive labor union of the World War I era, Local 8 of the Industrial Workers of the World were based on his books, Wobblies on the Waterfront: Interracial Unionism in Progressive-Era Philadelphia and Ben Fletcher: The Life and Times of a Black Wobbly.
