Four of the WIU History Department's nineteen graduating seniors were honored at the WIU Honors Convocation on Friday, December 19 at 5:30 p.m. in Western Hall. Earlier that day, despite the ice storm, the four students were honored at the Department of History's Honors Luncheon, sponsored by the Department of History's faculty for the students and their families at the Red Ox Restaurant. Their luncheon hosts were Dr. Virginia Boynton, Department Chair and Professor of History, and Dr. Greg Hall, Associate Professor of History.

Alex Heuer (Summa Cum Laude), Andrea VanDrew (Magna Cum Laude), Shane Leadbetter (Magna Cum Laude), and Jerry Prina (Cum Laude) were among those honored at the ceremony, where they were accompanied by Dr. Boynton and Associate Professor Dr. Lee Brice.

Mr. Heuer, a History-Teacher Certification major, was the College Scholar for the Centennial Honors College for Fall 2008 and served as one of eight marshalls during the Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, December 20. He received a total of four honors medals at the Honors Convocation: College Scholar, Department Scholar, Honors Scholar, and Summa Cum Laude graduate.

Ms. VanDrew, a History-Teacher Certification major, was awarded two medals at the Convocation, acknowledging her accomplishments as an Honors Scholar and as a Magna Cum Laude graduate.
