History Major Abigail Johnson's Photograph Wins Prize

Jan 29, 2009

The WIU History Department is pleased to announce that one of its junior History Teacher Certification majors, Abigail ("Abi") Johnson, won Third Place in this year's Center for International Studies (CIS) Photography Contest. Her black-and-white photograph of the Eiffel Tower, taken while she was visiting Paris during her study-abroad experience at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk, England, appears on the January page of the 2009 "Rocky Goes Global" calendar, produced by WIU's Office of Study Abroad. Abi chose to photograph the Eiffel Tower, she reported, because it is "an iconic symbol of France" that is recognized around the world.

A copy of the calendar is now displayed outside the History Department office (438 Morgan).
