15 History Students Initiated into Phi Alpha Theta National Honor Society

Fifteen WIU History students, including four History M.A. students, nine seniors, and two juniors, were initiated into the national History Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta, on Sunday, April 22, Dr. Lee L. Brice, Faculty Advisor for WIU's Omicron Omicron chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, has announced.
The four graduate students, all candidates for the M.A. in History, are Kaitlin Benson of Rockford, Nikita Ernst of Apple River, Michael Lowe, Jr. of Panora, Iowa, and Cassandra Zimmerman of Roseville.
Eight senior History majors were initiated on Sunday: Blake Becke of Freeport, Jennifer Callihan of Galesburg, Mike Downs of Macomb, Shawn Emily of Alton, Evan Gailey of Lake Bluff, Matthew Geimer of LaGrange, Joseph Pienta of Rock Island, and Alex Rhea of Camp Point.
One junior History major, Jessica Toops of Aledo, was intiated this year.
In addition, senior History minor Douglas Endres of Macomb and junior History minor Jason Miller of Naperville were also be among those inducted this year.
This year's initiation was the last for Dr. Brice, who has been elected to the National Advisory Council of Phi Alpha Theta. Dr. Timothy M. Roberts, Interim Faculty Advisor for WIU's Phi Alpha Theta chapter in 2010-11, replaces Dr. Brice as the chapter's Faculty Advisor starting in the 2012-13 academic year.
