Online Teaching of Math and Technical Subjects Workshop: "How to use Zoom to Record lectures for Online Courses and for Videoconferencing", presented by Dr. Jim Olsen. The lecture is free and open to the public. Date: Thursday, October 24, 2019, Time: 3:45 p.m., Place: 216 Morgan Hall.

AMC 8 Middle School Contest. WIU’s Department of Mathematics will offer the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) American Mathematics Competitions contest on the WIU campus at NO CHARGE for middle school students. The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. The AMC 8 provides an opportunity for middle school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. Students apply classroom skills to unique problem-solving challenges in a low-stress and friendly environment.
