Department of Psychology
The School Psychology Program has long standing relationships with many schools in the west central Illinois area. Typically, first year students are assigned to schools in the West Prairie, LaHarpe, Bushnell, Hamilton, and Cuba school districts for their practicum experiences. Second year students work more closely with area school psychologists schools and placements have been made in the following schools: Macomb, West Prairie, Bushnell, Beardstown, Brown County, Havana, LaHarpe, West Central, Canton, Camp Point, Hamilton, Warsaw, and Knox-Warren Special Education District.
Although students complete the majority of their practicum work in public school settings, we do have an on-campus Psychoeducational Clinic. The Clinic accepts referrals from parents in cases where a second opinion is warranted. Students work under faculty supervision on these cases.
Students in the School Psychology Program complete a year-long internship during their final year in the program. Internship placements include a variety of school districts across Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, and on occasion other states as well, including Alaska. Please see below for a map of recent internship locations for school psychology graduates.
