Research Opportunities in Anthropology
Students are highly encouraged to work with faculty to develop their own research. The College of Arts & Sciences provides modest support for undergraduate student research.
In addition students may participate in ongoing faculty research projects. Some examples include:
- environmental sustainability on campus and in the local community
- effects of flooding on rural communities in Illinois
- sustainable local food production
- Gulf coast shrimp fisheries and hurricanes
- water and environmental sustainability in Phoenix, Arizona
- the effects of climate change and rising sea level on small island nations
- human use of medicinal plants
- patterns of biodiversity in fossil primate communities
- functional morphology and fossil primate adaptations
- effect of female participation in fair trade cooperatives on family structures in Middle Eastern communities
- economic participation as a factor in conflict resolution
