Management and Marketing -- On behalf of the faculty and staff a welcome from the Chair

Hello! I am Professor Gordon Rands, and on behalf of the faculty I would like to welcome you to our department. The mission of Western Illinois University is to have a profound and positive impact on our changing world through the unique interaction of instruction, research, and public service as we educate and prepare a diverse student population to thrive in and contribute to our global society. Our department shares this vision and is totally committed to teaching excellence. Since 1993, the annual Outstanding Teaching Award for the College of Business and Technology has been awarded to a Management and Marketing faculty member twelve times. The vast majority of these outstanding teachers are currently on the faculty.

We are proud to be a fully-accredited member of AACSB -- the International Association for Management Education -- and maintain a level of scholarship and public service which assures re-accreditation. At the same time, we maintain a focus that keeps you, as a student, firmly in mind. This allows us to maintain classes which are smaller than those at larger universities. As a result, our students have a higher level of access to their professors, all of whom are full-time teaching professionals. In our department, instructional assignments are never made to our graduate assistants.
