Google Drive Tutorial (iMac)

Download, Install, Open

Step 1

Navigate to the Google Drive Download web page.
(link opens in a new browser window/tab)

download backup and sync
Step 2

Choose "Download Backup and Sync"

Agree and download
Step 3

Choose "Agree and download"

Open dmg file
Step 4

When the download is complete, open the dmg. file located at the bottom of the browswer window

drag Google icon to Applications folder

Drag the "Backup and Sync from Google" icon to the Applications folder

Open Google Drive from Applications folder

  1. Open Finder
  2. Choose the Applications folder
  3. Double-click Google Drive to open
  4. Option: Drag the Google Drive Icon to the dock for easier access

Add files to Google Drive

Now you're ready to move the files from the hard drive on your computer to your Google Drive.

open Google in Finder
Step 1
  1. Navigate to the top right task bar of your iMac
  2. Click on the Google Drive Triangle Logo
  3. Choose Open Google Drive folder

  1. Click on the Google Drive folder in the Finder
  2. Drag and drop the folder to the Finder sidebar.

  1. Drag and drop files from their current location (ex: documents) to Google Drive.
