Information Systems

Students may complete an honors curriculum in University Honors, Upper Division Honors, or Lower Division Honors. All Honors students must complete the one-hour honors colloquium (GH 299). Lower Division Honors includes General Honors coursework. Upper Division Honors includes honors work in the major. University Honors combines Upper and Lower Division Honors.

Honors students in Information Systems must complete all requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems.

Grade Requirements
  • 3.5 overall GPA
  • 3.5 GPA in honors courses

Lower Division Honors Requirements

  • Two General Honors seminars (6 semester hours)
  • An honors section of the First Year Experience (3 semester hours) (a General Honors seminar may be substituted in some cases)
  • GH 299 (one semester hour) 

Upper Division Honors Requirements

  • GH 299
  • 9 semester hours in the Computer Sciences including IS 497 (Senior Honors Project).
  • The remaining 6 hours must be chosen from: IS 497- Senior Honors Project (3-6 sh, repeatable to 6 sh)
  • In-class honors completed in IS 342, 405, 415, 467 (with a maximum of 6 s.h. of in-class honors)

University Honors

  • Two General Honors seminars (6 semester hours)
  • An honors section of the First Year Experience (in some cases a General Honors seminar may be substituted)
  • GH 299
  • 9 hours of departmental courses to include IS 497. The remaining 6 hours to be chosen from IS 497 or in-class honors completed in IS 342, 405, 410, 467.
