Singers Audition Information and Procedure
Audition
Date: Monday, August 25,
2008
Audition Times: Noon to
6:00 PM
Location: Sallee Hall
200 (Dr. Stegall’s Office)
Audition Materials: Available on-line at
www.wiu.edu/choirs
Class Times:
MWF 1p to 1:50p and TTh 12:30p to 1:45p.

University Singers and
Madrigal Singers auditions will be combined into one audition.
Remember that all students receiving Talent Grant Awards must
audition for University Singers, however, all University students
are encouraged to audition.

Sign for an audition
time located at Sallee 200. The audition sign up list will be
available in August. Fill out an information sheet located at Sallee 200 and bring
it to your audition.

Your audition will be
singing three pages of the prepared music selection,
Tween Dusk and Dreams
by Kentaro Sato. The score excerpt is available in PDF
(Adobe Acrobat) at www.wiu.edu/choirs. You will be evaluated on the
following criteria:
a. Positive
attitude d. Ability to sing intune
b. Beauty and power of voice e. Preparation level of
the music
c. Ability to receive instruction f. Sight singing of
a familiar tune
with a few pitch alterations

A word about preparing
Tween Dusk and Dreams.
Prepare
this work on your own preferred singing part. Basically, you will
be evaluated on your attention to performance detail which includes
your ability to:
a.
sing in the proper tempo,
b.
sing all the notes accurately and in style,
c.
sing with refined diction skills, clear consonants and
vowels, and
d.
perform with a good body position.

audition, simply a hearing to decide voice part assignments.
