The representative choral ensemble
from Western. Though primarily music
majors, membership is open to all university students, most of
who receive talent grant awards. This
nationally recognized ensemble of highly motivated singers presents two
major concerts per semester, an annual recruiting tour, and yearly major
works with the WIU Symphony Orchestra.
The University Singers regularly
receive invitations to perform for regional and national conventions.
Performances include the Illinois Music Educators Association State Conference, Peoria (1992), the Music Educators National
Conferences in Minneapolis (1993), Kansas City (1996), and Peoria
(1997). They have performed at the National American Choral Directors Association
Convention, San Diego (1997), the ACDA Central Division Convention
in Detroit (1998) the ACDA Central Division in Cincinnati (2000).
They have been recently selected for performance at the 2007 National
ACDA Convention in Miami, Florida.
They have also appeared in professional venues with the Kansas City Symphony, the Dallas Brass
and the Peoria Symphony.
