CPS Clicker Resources

Clickers or student response pads are hand-held devices that are used by students to answer polling and objective quiz questions during a classroom activity, lecture or presentation. In October 2008, WIU finalized its master standardization agreement with eInstruction to make a standard and affordable response pad to available to students through the University bookstore. eInstruction's Classroom Performance Systems (CPS) clickers for higher education use radio frequency and can be integrated with PowerPoint and our existing WesternOnline learning management system.

As part of the standardization agreement, students will be offered preferred pricing on the clickers through the University Bookstore. Beginning in Spring 2008, students will be able to purchase a response pad for $23.25. Students will then pay a $13 activation fee for each semester they use the pad, with a $39 maximum during their education at WIU.

Requesting a CPS Instructor Kit

Faculty who adopt eInstruction clickers for their classroom will be provided an RF receiver unit, CPS software, and a test response pad. Note: If you will be integrating CPS with WesternOnline, please follow the instructions below and DO NOT follow the instructions you will receive in your test kit.

Integrating CPS with WesternOnline

It is important to follow all of the steps outlined below for both instructors and students for the integration of CPS with WesternOnline to work properly. Contact Sara Settles in CITR or Doug Menke in University Technology if you have questions or need assistance with setting up CPS and getting started with clickers.
