Specific Award Guidelines
Please note that the following are general guidelines for applicants and are not intended to be all encompassing criteria that each candidate must possess for consideration. Applicants are not expected to address each of the listed criteria, although competitive candidates will have significant contributions in the identified areas. Candidates are especially requested to provide a discussion of the impact of the activity in their respective area and provide documentation to substantiate this impact.
Applications for this award are limited to five (5) pages of narrative (single spaced) and ten (10) pages of supporting documentation in addition to the appendix stipulated in each category. Please allow one inch margins on all sides and use a 12 point font. Please recognize that the period of review is limited to August 1, 2005 through July 31, 2008. Applications not in compliance with these guidelines will be eliminated from consideration.
Guidelines
Detailed below are the general guidelines for the Provost’s Awards of Excellence.
These were developed to ensure a fair, thorough, and streamlined process.
- The awards evaluate a record covering a period of the most recent three (3)
years, summers included, beginning with August 1, 2005, continuing through
July 31, 2008.
- A candidate may compete in one category annually. A winner of a University
award would be excluded from consideration for that award for a subsequent
period of five (5) years.
- A college may choose to resubmit a candidate who has been evaluated in the
past.
- It will be advantageous for all colleges/library to streamline their awards
criteria to be consistent with the criteria for the Provost’s Awards of
Excellence to ensure competitiveness at the University level.
- Each award selection committee will be comprised of a faculty member from each of the colleges and library. This would ensure a reasonable workload and also provide greater input/participation across campus. A Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research Advisory Committee member is embedded as a non-voting member to provide a feedback loop in being able to revise/amend the criteria for subsequent years. The previous year's winner in each category will also be invited to serve on the committee for the award he/she received.
