2009-07-15 to 2009-07-17

On July 16 at 8:37 a.m. Office of Public Safety officers, the Macomb Fire Department and a McDonough District Hospital ambulance responded to a call from Seal Hall 200 on the east wing. A woman had collapsed to the floor during an asthma attack; she was taken by ambulance to McDonough District Hospital. There also was a strong, foul odor, and workers in the east wing were temporarily relocated to the University Union.
Fire department and WIU physical plant personnel determined the odor was from a battery on a charger that overheated in the first floor east wing mechanical room. The wing was ventilated and occupants returned at 11 a.m.
