Accreditation
Welcome to the accreditation page for the College of Education and Human Services. Currently, nine of our 12 departments hold accreditation in their respective fields. The following is a list of the departments with the accrediting bodies and links to the national organization.
The preparation of education professionals is a university-wide responsibility that involved all four colleges, 20 departments and 23 programs. The National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) has continuously accredited Western's Teacher Education Program since it's inception in 1954. In the fall of 2004, Western Illinois University was invited to become a member of the Renaissance Group. The 35 colleges and universities that comprise the Renaissance Group share a common commitment to promoting exemplary teacher education practices, partnerships, and leadership that ensure high levels of learning for all students in America's schools.
