Student Teaching Abroad
Criteria for teacher education students who wish to student teach abroad are identified below.
Student teaching experiences will be available for fall semester only. A maximum of two students per fall semester will be admitted to the program.
Limited International Student Teaching will be available only for schools that are approved by CPEP and meet CPEP clinical evaluation standards.
The application process is as follows:
- Complete the standard application process on time.
- Submit an appeal requesting special permission to student teach “out of area” by October 22 to Jacqlin Richmond, Coordinator of University Field and Clinical Experiences, Horrain Hall 91.
International Student Teaching involves substantial additional costs. The student will be responsible for ALL expenses related to the student teaching abroad experience, even if the experience is cancelled.
All items on the Student Teaching Checklist (except the APT exam) must be completed by the due dates identified. The APT exam must be passed PRIOR to student teaching as students will not be in Illinois to take the exam.
