Michelle Maher

Michelle Maher from Park Ridge, IL is a senior majoring in Physical Education K-12. She graduated from Maine South High School where she played basketball, volleyball, and track & field. Michelle continued her love for the game of basketball at Western for the last four years. Throughout her college basketball career she has broken several WIU Women’s Basketball records. She is the career leader in 3-point field goals, career leader in games played, career leader in minutes played, and most points in a single game. She has also received multiple honors/awards such as: 2015 Summit League Spring Academic Honor Roll, Honorable Mention All-Summit League honoree, and Summit League Player of the Week.

After student teaching in Fall 2016 Michelle’s future plans are to be a Physical Education Teacher and a head high school varsity basketball coach. When Michelle is not in the classroom or not on the basketball court she likes to spend her time playing softball and volleyball. Fitness and sports have provided her with many opportunities. Her desire is to provide the same opportunities she has had with future generations.

Michelle’s favorite quote is “Somewhere behind the athlete you’ve become and the hours of practice and the coaches who have pushed you is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back…play for her.” – Mia Hamm
