Ronald Lane Abrell Scholarship
HISTORY:
The Ronald Abrell Scholarship was established in 1989 by family and
friends in honor of Abrell's life-long commitment to student teachers
and the teaching profession. Ronald was a professor of educational
administration and supervision, served as a supervisor of WIU student
teachers in the south Chicago suburbs and had been on the Western
faculty since 1968. Ronald Abrell was also president of the American
National Business Hall of Fame from 1980 until his death on April 3,
1989. He was 55 years of age.
CRITERIA:
1. Must be a senior Secondary Education majors.
2. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
3. First preference will be given to students from the Chicago area who
are student teaching in the Chicago area.
TERMS: one award at $300.00
SELECTION PROCESS:
Final selection will be determined by the Coordinator of University
Field and Clinical Experiences and scholarship committee in the Center
for the Preparation of Education Professionals.
