College Student Personnel program

College Student Personnel: Higher Education Leadership

The College Student Personnel: Higher Education Leadership, our part-time option, serves the educational and logistical needs of professionals like you who are currently engaged in student affairs (or closely related) work in a professional capacity.

  • CSP: Higher Education Leadership is designed for student affairs professionals currently working full-time in the field who are eager to earn their master's degree on a part-time basis.
  • The curriculum supports a 43-credit, two-year Master of Science program that meets CAS standards, the most comprehensive and rigorous graduate preparation program standards within higher education. Click here for more information on degree requirements.
  • While the CSP program was established in 1970, The Higher Education Leadership track began its inaugural year in Fall 2015 and enrolls new students bi-annually (Summer 2017, Summer 2019, Summer 2021). Click here for the application timeline.
  • Courses in the HEL track are offered in a low-residency, weekend model that blends in-person and on-line learning environments based out of the WIU-Quad Cities campus.
  • A theory-to-practice model means that the application of classroom concepts to real-world student affairs work is a critical part of your classroom discussions and course assignments.
  • In a small cohort of professionals, you and your colleagues will learn and support each other as students and student affair professionals.
  • For CSP: Higher Education Leadership, the culminating experience is either a portfolio you put together or a thesis you write that is representative of your knowledge, growth, and professional development throughout your graduate school experience.
