Dr. Massey earned her Ph.D. at the University of Virginia.  She teaches reading and literacy courses at the graduate and undergraduate level. Her areas of interest are early literacy, diagnosis and remediation of reading difficulties, literacy coaching and professional development for professional educators. She has presented at the local and national levels.
