Dr. Melissa Stinnett is Associate Professor of Reading at Western Illinois University in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses and supervises block students in the schools. She received her B.A. from Eureka College and both her M.Ed. and Ph.D from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
She serves as department representative for UPI, and is a COEHS representative for Graduate Council. Dr. Stinnett has had much experience with early literacy instruction, teaching Reading Recovery, kindergarten, first, and second grades. She is a frequent presenter at state and national literacy conferences. Dr. Stinnett is involved with international research, particularly by working with schools in New Zealand
