Sebastian Szyjka, Ph.D.

Dr. Sebastian Szyjka has earned degrees from Western Illinois University (BA & MA) and his PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, with an emphasis in Science Education. He serves as an Associate Professor of Science Education, teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses. He also serves as the Curriculum and Instruction Graduate Program Coordinator. His professional activities include presenting at state, regional and national conferences, conducting pre-service teacher workshops, and conducting research related to science education. Dr. Szyjka has published an number of articles in various journals in Science Education. Dr. Szyjka also currently serves as the WIU Science Education Center Director, where he coordinates both the Illinois Regional Science Olympiad and the Pre-K-8 Science Update Conference.
