Students from Dr. Simonson's ELED 445 Honors Seminar Present at
Thomas E. Helm Undergraduate Research Day

The seven students from Dr. Sara Simonson's ELED 445 Honors Seminar in Elementary Education class had the honor of presenting their research projects at the Thomas E. Helm Undergraduate Research Day on April 9, 2015 in the University Union Grand Ballroom.  Dr. Simonson acted as Faculty Mentor for their projects.  Some students presented research from other classes as well.

Jordan Mahara presents her research project on Spelling and Grammatical Errors Made by Rural Illinois High School Students.  Jordan's advisors on this project were Curriculum and Instruction Department Faculty Member Pamela Campbell and Researcher Amanda Davis of WIU’s Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs.

Jasmine Bailey speaks with Dr. Thomas E. Helm about her research. Thomas E. Helm Undergraduate Research Day was created in honor of Dr. Helm, who is the founding director of the Illinois Centennial Honors College at WIU. Dr. Helm was a Professor of Religious Studies in WIU's Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies for more than 30 years.
