I taught undergraduate and graduate social work classes, as an adjunct and teaching assistant for 4 years at Michigan State University.

I taught undergraduate social work classes and was department chair at Saginaw Valley State University (Michigan)for 13 years.

I taught undergraduate and graduate social work classes at Governors State University (Illinois)for 3 years.

I have worked as a clinical, out-patient therapist for several years, off and on, while working as a school social worker or teaching.

My focus on teaching has been in the policy and research areas.  My focus in direct practice has been with families and children.

Research interests are poverty and policy, childhood sexual abuse, discrimination and oppression.

I like to think of myself as a world traveler.  I have traveled in North America,Central America, South America, Scandinavia, Great Britain, Europe, and Asia, and want to see more places.  When I retire from teaching I plan on joining the Peace Corps.
