Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology is to provide international leadership by promoting scholarships and best practices in the creation, use, and management of technologies for effective teaching and learning in a wide range of settings.
What is AECT?
The Association for educational communications and technology (AECT) is a professional association of thousands of educators and others whose activities are direct towards improving instruction through technology. AECT is dedicated to the improvement of teach and learning through the effective use of media, technology, and telecommunications.
AECT Chapter at WIU
WIU’s student chapter of AECT seeks to learn new and existing technologies to achieve educational goals in a wide variety of instructional settings. WIU AECT is housed thorough the college of Education and Human Services (COEHS) Instructional Design and Technology Department(IDT), in Horrabin Hall. Students from all WIU departments are welcome to join AECT! Yearly membership dues are only $10!
Who Runs the AECT Chapter?
WIU AECT is run by students and overseen by IDT faculty. Students officers set up meetings, socials, and field trips for the organization. Each month a meeting is held in Horrabin Hall, were guest speakers come to visit WIU AECT and speak about their role in the field of instructional design and technology.
