Employment Opportunities

The School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration (LEJA), housed within the College of Education and Human Services (COEHS), consists of twenty-seven full time faculty members on the University’s Macomb and Quad Cities campuses. The School is recognized as a Signature program at WIU and is the largest department of 44 departments on campus enrolling about 1900 undergraduate and 110 graduate students. WIU’s School of LEJA is the largest undergraduate law enforcement program in the region and the 4th largest in the nation. The program is designed to provide professional knowledge, understanding, and skills for criminal justice and develop an educational base for further success in staff and administrative criminal justice positions. The School provides a blend of theoretical and practical knowledge as well as valuable research skills. Faculty expertise is drawn from several disciplines including: law, public administration, higher education, sociology, criminology, political science, and criminal justice.

A bachelor of science and/or a master of arts degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration is attainable. A Police Executive Certificate is also available to post-graduate students and is designed to prepare future law enforcement executives and current executives for the future. Also offered to undergraduate students are the options of acquiring a minor in security administration, homeland security, and fire administration.
