Chief H. Scott Walker is a 30 year veteran of the fire service. He has held the rank of Firefighter/paramedic, Lieutenant, Assistant Chief and Fire Chief. His work has developed extensive experience in fire ground tactics and strategy, personnel management, fire prevention, code enforcement, public finance, labor relations, emergency medical services, rescue and public education. He has been a member of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, The International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Illinois Terrorism Task Force and the Illinois Fire Caucus.

Chief Walker received his Bachelors Degree from Western Illinois University and completed his Masters Degree at Benedictine University. Aadditionally, holds several state and national certifications including; Executive Fire Officer from the National Fire Academy and Certified Fire Officer I and II from the Illinois State Fire Marshall's Office.

In over 20 years of instructing emergency services, Chief Walker has worked with numerous organizations including; the Illinois State Fire Marshals Office, the Illinois Fire Service Institute, the Illinois Department of Transportation & the Illinois Department of Health. He joined the faculty of Western Illinois University in 2009, teaching both traditional and online courses related to emergency response services.
