Mr. Wiorek is a licensed attorney who has taught criminal law and criminal procedure at the School of LEJA for 20 years. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree (with High Honors) in Psychology from Western Illinois University, Mr. Wiorek attended Southern Illinois University School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the SIU Law Journal. Mr. Wiorek graduated summa cum laude in 1988 with a juris doctorate degree.
After a short time in private practice, the majority of Mr. Wiorek's legal career was spent serving as staff attorney to Justice Kent Slater of the Illinois Appellate Court. During that time, Mr. Wiorek worked on a wide variety of civil and criminal appeals, ranging from burglary, home invasion and drug and sex offenses to cases of manslaughter and murder. Currently, in addition to teaching at WIU, Mr. Wiorek has a limited private practice concentrated on appellate matters.
