RPTA QUAD CITIES
The Western Illinois University-Quad Cities (WIU-QC) Advantage
Because class sizes are small, students get to know
their fellow RPTA-QC students and are able to interact with their
instructors on an individual basis. The Student Recreation Association,
which all students can join for free, hosts a variety of fun special
events and professional activities throughout the fall and spring
semesters. The large number of recreation, health and human services
agencies in the Quad Cities area means that students have many choices
for internship and fieldwork placements locally. There are many
scholarships and awards that RPTA-QC students may receive, including 12
dedicated to RPTA majors. As well, Student Recreation Association
executive members are eligible for Talent Grant awards. Western
Illinois University is the only public university option for
undergraduate education in the Quad Cities and Illinois instate tuition,
is offered to residents of Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and Missouri, so
being a RPTA major at WIU-QC is a very cost effective way to obtain
Bachelors degree that will prepare you to work as a professional at
recreation, health and human services agencies.
