Student Advisory Council

Comprised of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students representing their academic departments and campuses (online, Macomb, Quad Cities), the Student Advisory Council gathers and shares feedback on what and how we can empower COEHS students on their path to becoming socially conscious leaders and practitioners. This begins with addressing the needs of our student body, supporting the student-centered initiatives of our faculty and staff, supporting the development of the school and school culture, and encouraging the skills and dispositions associated with helping-profession careers.

Membership
Our membership is open to departmental student organization representatives, departmental appointees, and students who are passionate about creating positive experiences and environments for our community. We are experimenting with the size of our group and will make adjustments each semester.

Representative Duties

  • Ask questions of and listen to your classmates (including and beyond your friends in the major)
  • Share information about events and initiatives
  • Encourage participation ranging from student organizations to open houses, COEHS initiatives, and special requests
  • Represent and be mindful of the diversity of individuals and diversity of needs of the COEHS student body of today and the COEHS student body of the future

Time Commitment
As a member, you participate in up to four virtual meetings per semester, and notify the advisor in advance if you are unable to attend. If you miss more than two meetings over the course of the academic year and/or are unable to actively participate may be asked to step down to ensure the group has functional student input. On average, you can expect to invest three hours per month in the organization (meetings, prep, and programming initiatives).
