About the Artist

Brett Eberhardt is a Professor of Painting at Western Illinois University. He came to WIU in 2007 with an MFA from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, and a BFA degree in Painting and Woodworking from Northern Michigan University. Before coming to Western Illinois University, Brett taught at State University of NY at Potsdam. He currently teaches Painting and and Design I.

His paintings are masterfully executed and well crafted statements of contemporary art for which he has won many nationally significant awards. He is a recent award winner of the Manifest Prize at Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati, and was recently chosen for the Critic's Top Picks show at the A Gallery in Chelsea, New York. Works by Mr. Eberhardt and one of his former WIU students were selected for inclusion in TAPPED where only nine teacher-student pairs were accepted out of 330 artists. Professor Eberhardt is a raising star of contemporary painting. He is a native of Michigan.
