About the Artist

Damon McArthur serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Art. He came to WIU in 2003, after serving as Visiting Professor of Art at Hobart and William Smith Colleges from 2001-2003. He currently teaches Introduction to Art, Drawing and Painting courses. Damon continues to exhibit and works in a variety of two dimensional media with oil paint being the main focus of his art. His special interest is in post modern figuration. His artwork has been exhibited regionally and nationally and is included in a number of private collections.

Damon is a native of Stamford, CT. He believes that his primary role as an academic professional is to broaden students' appreciation of art and life. His motto is “nosce te ipsum", his translation, "know thyself."
