Department of Art

Graphic Design

The overarching emphasis of the major is for our students to understand and utilize the principles of design to create effective and meaningfully designed works.

Developing the ability to use these principles purposefully is center to all assignments and critiques.

The ability to communicate ideas visually—whether the medium is print, the Internet, multimedia or animation—is the primary consideration that art directors are looking for in graphic designers.

All faculty teaching these classes have an MFA degree, the terminal degree in art and design.
