William "Will" Buss is an award-winning journalist, a broadcasting and journalism instructor and the faculty adviser for the Western Courier, Western Illinois University's student newspaper.

Buss earned his Master of Arts in Public Affairs Reporting at the University of Illinois at Springfield in 1998 and his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Western Illinois University in 1997.

He began his journalism career at the Kewanee Star Courier in Kewanee, Ill. in 1998. In 2000, he joined the Belleville News-Democrat in Belleville, Ill., where he spent the next 16 years as a reporter and earned honors from the Illinois Press Association and the Illinois Associated Press.

Buss has also taught journalism at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Ill., Lindenwood University in Belleville, Ill. and Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, Ill. and Granite City, Ill.
