Overview of the Experience:

The honor choir will be a relatively well-balanced SATB group.

Advanced university student singers will serve as vocal role models.

There is no fee to audition.

There is a $20.00 per student participation fee for those chosen for the honor choir.

Directors should help students prepare their audition CDs.  The audition will include scales and one solo selection.

Applications should be postmarked by November 29, 2013.

Directors will be notified via email on December 13 as to which students are selected for the honor choir.

The four music selections must be memorized.  Students may be asked to sing in small groups to verify memory at the start of the honor choir day.  The WIU Choirs website will provide sound files to help the students learn and memorize the honor choir selections.

Students will need to secure their own honor choir music and bring it to the festival for reference purposes during rehearsals.

Special Polo Shirts will be provided to all honor choir participants.  The final concert uniform will consist of the polo shirt and dark pants/shoes.

All participating students must be chaperoned by their director or a parent throughout the honor choir day.

Those travelling long distances may wish to travel to Macomb on Thursday evening.  Several hotels are located close to the University.  On-campus housing is available.
