Cheryl Bailey is an Instructor in the Department of Communication. She serves as Coordinator of the Introduction to Human Communication course. She has taught Introduction to Public Speaking, Advanced Public Speaking, Introduction to Human Communication, Introduction to Interpersonal Communication, Introduction to Persuasion, Persuasive Campaigns, Research Design in Communication, Semantics, Language and Communication and Introduction to Women’s Studies. She has taught primarily at Western Illinois University for the past 22 years, but has also taught at Spoon River College in Macomb and the Henry C. Hill Correction Center (for Carl Sandburg College) in Galesburg.

Cheryl has co-authored conference papers that have been presented at national conferences of the Organization for the Study of Communication, Language and Gender, the Speech Communication Association and the Conference on College Composition and Communication. She most recently participated as a panelist for the program Communication Text Books as Tools for Activism: The Coverage of Gender and Sexuality in Basic Communication Text Books at the conference of the Central States Communication Association in 2008.
